7 tables; 21 ref. Summary (En)
The effects of sealed storage on the quality of white corn (maize) in bag stacks have been investigated in the Philippines. Storage trials were conducted using two sealed or unsealed stacks. Each stack contained 228 tonnes. Maize stored sealed showed improved retention of quality as measured by the percentage weight loss, fat acidity value, grain colour, and counts of total primary pest insects, but not when assessed by the amounts of mouldy or discoloured grains. Correlation between these parameters are discussed
