Summary: Development of Triticale is a great achievement of science, which enabled combination of two genera, wheat and rye, in one organism bearing positive characteristics of both. Triticale is a distant hybrid specified by both positive and negative distinctions. Breeding improvement of Triticale as a culture of the future should be made through hybridization with wheat genus. For that purposes population of Georgian bread wheat is the best source of many positive characteristics. Trough crosses of octa and hexaploid Triticale obtained from the international nurseries with the aboriginal Georgian land raced of bread wheat performed during the recent 20 years and with the selection of individual plants within segregating populations the most interesting, from the viewpoint of genetics and breeding practice, germplasm had been produced. Through the development and analysis of produced initial material, high yield and short vegetation period, diseases- resistant, highly fertile, well grained with complete grains, high protein content plant types had been selected. The following forms were developed through individual and mass selection: Kartli 1, Kartli 2, Kartli 3, Kartli 4, Kartli 5 and Kartli 6, which are very promising for Georgian environment and which are grooving in Georgia. Triticale Kartli Facultative variety is of feed-grain application and has been registered for entire Georgia since 1993.
