In the Mexican state of Veracruz, farmers usually receive maize grain yields of 2.0 t/ha. Ths yield indicates there are several technological management problems, including limited use of improved seed and inadequate use of fertilizers. Thus, an experiment was carried out in Cotaxtla, Veracruz, during 2002 (spring-summer season) under rainfed conditions, with the main purpose of improving production technology to increase productivity.
