In the general report by the ISCC Subcommittee on Problem 19, White Surfaces, Hunter remarks that "the formulas which have appeared to date have not enjoyed general usage, probably because they seem too complex for routine application." Referring to this, it possibly might be of interest to present a formula for whiteness which simphfies the calculation considerably. This formula, tested on wheat milling products, is in its most simple form W = G-A+B, in which G, A, and B are the tristimulus reflectance values.
