Results of studies on the effects of both chemicals on culture fresh weight, culture viscosity, somatic embryoid number and root development are presented. Dicamba at 40 æM with 3 4 g casein hydrolysate/litre in modified Schenk & Hildebrandt medium resulted in the production of ÷2000 embryoids/35 ml of suspension. Root development was inhibited by dicamba and stimulated by casein hydrolysate.
