520 _aModeling has always been of interest to plant breeders as a way of indirectly comparing effidendes of different breeding methods. QUCIM is a QU-GENE (Podlich and Cooper 1998) application module originally designed to model CIMMYT' s wheat breeding program (Wang et al. 2003) but which can model most breeding methods, including mass selection, pure-line breeding, pedigree selection, bulk- population selection, single-seed descent, back cross breeding, top cross breeding, doubled haploid breeding, marker-assisted selection, and any combination or modification of these methods.
