520 _aIn spite of progresses realized toward understanding resistance to FHB in wheat, the improvement of field resistance has been slow often largely based on Chinese source Sumai 3 although other resistance has been identified. The slow progress and absence of major breakthrough in resistance improvement in recent years is due to the complex nature of resistance. Since targeted crosses to further improve resistance to FHB are needed, we evaluated in detail Type I and Type II resistance in a set of lines that have emerged as promising for FHB tolerance in CIMMYT's wheat program. Lines with confirmed combination of Type I and Type II resistance should received higher attention for future targeted crosses.
