| 520 | _aBarley yellow dwarf (BYD) has been observed in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) and durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. durum) in Iran, but few symptoms have been seen in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Weed grasses are the principal host. BYD epidemics occurred in 1980 and 1987. Common aphid species found in Iran are Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch), R. padi (L.), Schizaphis graminum (Rondani), Sitobion avenae (Fabricius), and Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker).
