520 _aThe study was conducted in eight inbred lines and 56 single crosses. Dry matter (DM) correlation, yield components and plant characteristics influenced grain yield positively. The correlation of days taken to tassel, silk emergence and kernel rows per cob was non significant. Most of the traits showed positive but non significant correlation with grain yield in inbreds, except cob dry matter yield components viz; kernel rows per cob (0.494),kernels per row(o.4g6)and plant height (0.467). A positive and significant relationship was observed between dry matter production with all the characters except kernel rows per cob and days to silking. However, DM was negatively correlated with days to tasseling in inbred lines. In case of inbred lines all traits were positively associated with DM except days to silking. Days taken to tasseling and silking, leaves at maturity and 100 grain weight were negatively associated with grain yield
