520 | _aThe presence in Italy of different strains of Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus (BYDV) was demonstrated. Two of them were isolated respectively from rice (RGV) and from maize (M-PAV) and then classified as "non-specific" strains of BYDV; a third one was isolated directly from an adult of Rhopalosiphum meidis Fitch and then serologically defined as a pure and "specific" RMV-like strain of BYDV. After isolated, the Italian strain of RMV (RMV-1) was subtransmitted 19 times by single R. maidis aphids from Avena byzantina K. Koch to A. byzantina. It was then biologically characterized byusing eight different aphid species and different | ||
