520 | _aThe consequences of the application to a sub-alkaline (pH 7,8) soil of calcareous sludge containing Fe and other heavy metals as Cr, Ni and V, from the depuration of waters of a thermo-electric power station, have been studied for two years. The sludge was tested at doses corresponding to 0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 m('3)/ha (at 45 d.m.) in pots and vegetation boxes in the open air. In the first year growth behaviour and yield were observed on bread wheat and maize; the treated soil without cultivation was considered too. A maize crop followed the wheat in the second year and conversely; the non-cultivated soil was planted with barley. After an initial rise, | ||
