520 _aThe abnormal chromosome 10 in maize, previously described byLONGLEY and byRHOADES, appears to be the product of a simple translocation between A- and B-chromosomes. 2. A similar change has also given rise to an abnormal chromosome 9, which has not been previously described. This abnormal chromosome 9 has a large piece of heterochromatin attached to the distal end of the short arm. This piece of heterochromatin sometimes appears like a large terminal knob.
