Subject(s): In: Transactions of the ASAE v. 28, no. 6, p. 2037-2041Summary: A mass balance performed on a biomass gasifier-combustor related all the mass streams to biomass gasification rate using fuel properties and combustion parameters. Ranges and limits for all fuel properties and combustion parameters except the equivalence ratio for gasification were estimated from data in the literature. Tests determined that the equivalence ratio for gasification, φg, varies linearly with the sum of sensible and latent heat loss from the gasifier. A significant difference was found between φ for wood chips and corn cobs.
