The present study involved integrated use of ArcView GIS (gridded surfaces) and DSSAT-compatible crop models (sequence simulations) via software development at Texas A&M Research Center. Prior to application, interpolation techniques were evaluated for creating spatial input in the form of gridded climate surface. The performance of low-input maize cropping in western Mexico is simulated as a first application of the software. Preliminary results match expectations of Mexican agronomist and point up challenges for future applications of this approach ER -
