However, maize yields are very low and one way to increase productivity is to release improved varieties. The release of maize varieties requires testing across seasons and sites and on-farm trials.,Yield stability is an important factor to consider when releasing a cultivar. The method used to analyze yield stability was developed by Eberhart and Russell (1966). It involves regressing the genotype mean from several locations on the environmental value (environmental index).
