The selfcolour (Sc) component is responsible for anthocyanin production and the navajo (Nj) component regulates the time of onset and termination of pigment synthesis restricting the pigmentation to the crown region of the kernel. The probable gene order in the R region of the R-nj: Illinois isolate is: G-Sc-Nj-K T2 - Theoretical and Applied Genetics ER -
