The aphid vectors most widely distributed throughout the region are Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker), Sitobion avenae (Fabricius), Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), and Schizaphis graminum (Rondani). BYD was positively identified in 1967 (Brazil) and 1972 (Chile). During 1974/75 and 1975/76 severe BYD epidemics developed, with losses in the range of 10 to 60 %. From T2 - Burnett, P.A. (ed.).
