The objective of this study was to propose a method of a modified S1 recurrent selection for use in maize (Zea mays L.), and to use the expected genetic gain from the modified method for comparison with other methods of intrapopulation improvement. Three growing seasons are usually required for completing one cycle of S1 recurrent selection. In the proposed method, the evaluation and recombination phases were combined. The selection was assumed to have been practiced among and within S1 families. This modification enables the completion of one cycle of selection in two growing T2 - Crop Science ER -
