Summary (En) N2 - Response of irrigated wheat to N, P and K fertilizers was evaluated at three different locations in the Nigerian savanna. Wheat responded significantly to applied N up to 50 kg/ha at Kaduna and 150 kg/ha at Hadejia. The low N requirement at Kaduna was due to high natural fertility of the alluvial soil where the zero (control) yield was quite high. Low yields and poor response of wheat to N at Bakura were a result of magnesium deficiency and possibly some trace element deficiency in the soil. It was shown that quadratic response curves based on a few points from a few trials overestimate the N requirement of wheat. The limited trials reported here indicate that T2 - Samaru Journal of Agricultural Research ER -
