The ergot fungus becomes the dominant pathogen, displacing the bunted ovary. The specific immunoglobulin isolated from antisera raised against beta- glucanase of C. purpurea had affinity for C. purpurea mycelium but did not bind to T. caries mycelium. Consequently, immunofluorescence techniques differentiated between ergot tissue and bunt tissue at the interface between the2 parasites during their interaction in wheat, and demonstrated the acropetal displacement of the primary pathogen by the secondary pathogen T2 - Transactions of the British Mycological Society ER -
