Maize was planted with or without in-row subsoiling. Fertilizerwas applied as N, N-P or N-P-K at rates of N, P and K of 22, 9.7 and 6.6 lb/ac, respectively. This was placed either deep in the subsoil channel or shallow withor without subsoiling. Starter fertilizers improved early season plant growth inboth tillage system on both a silt loam, Decatur, and a sandy loam, Dothan. Plant height increases six weeks after planting averaged 50 and 27% for conventional and no tillage T2 - Journal of Fertilizer Issues ER -
