Sites were selected that had soil chemical or physical properties favouring Zn deficiency, including high pH or Bray P1 extractable P, low OM, sandy texture and/or suspected of showing Zn deficiency symptoms. Soil extractable Zn was determined with three extractants: DTPA, EDTA-(NH4)2CO3 and 0.1 M HCl. Zinc was applied as ZnEDTA at 1 or 2 lb Zn/acre before sowing. Whole plant samples were taken at the6-leaf stage and ear-leaf samples at silking and analysed for Zn content. Grain yields were also determined. Soils T2 - Journal of Fertilizer Issues ER -
