The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. The results indicate that next to two hand weeding treatment (35-40 and 55-60 days after crop emergence), the herbicide primextra TZ 500-FW was almost as effective in controlling the major grass (Sorghum arundinaceum and Echinochloa colona) and broad leaf weeds (Zelya pentandra, Portulaca oleraceae and Corchurus olitorius, Boerhaavia erecta L.). Hence, depending on the severity of weed infestation, this herbicide at the rate of 4.0 and 5.0 t ha-l, respectively, was found to be the most effective in controlling both grass and broad leaf weeds and resulted in a significant increase in grain yield ER -
