The following treatments were evaluated in a randomised completely block design experiment with three replicates: (1) No fertilizer, no Tithonia (control), (2) 40 kg P205 ha- 1 + 92 kg N ha-1 (standard recommendation), (3) Tithonia diversifolia at 1.5t ha-1 (44.1 kg N + 3.75 kg P), (4) Tithonia diversifolia at 3.0 t ha-1 (88.2 kg N + 7.5 kg P), (5) Tithonia diversifolia at 4.5 t ha-1 (132.3 kg N + 11.25 kg P), (6) Tithonia diversifolia at 1.5 t ha-1 (44.1 kg N + 3.75 kg P) + 13.5 kg P from TSP, (7) Tithonia diversifolia at 3.0 t ha-1 (88.2 kg N + 7.5 kg P) + 9.7 kg P from TSP and (8) Tithonia diversifolia at 4.5 t ha-1 (132.3 kg N + 11.25 kg P) + 5.95 kg P from TSP.
