Effect of environment on the performance of maize (Zea mays L.) in a diallel of exotic and local maize germplasm in mid altitude zones of Kenya

Analysis of variance showed significant differences indicating the existence of variation among the test genotypes. Genotype x location (G x L) and location x season (L x S) interactions were the predominant components of G x E interactions for grain yield, days to 50% silking and plant height of the studied maize genotypes. Several varietal crosses were observed to be desirable for their high grain yield and stability across environments in the mid altitude zone of Kenya.
