It has Sr2 and SrCad, whereas cv. Carberry has neither gene; both have Lr34. Both cultivars are thought to have other unidentified Sr genes. The objective of this study was to use a DH population from Carberry/AC Cadillac to identify stem rust QTLin Carberry and AC Cadillac, and to study the effects of Sr2, SrCad and other unidentified genes to control TTKST. The parents and 261 DH lines were evaluated for adult plant response near Njoro, Kenya, and also near Swift Current, Canada, where Canadian Pgt races were used. Seedling reactions to TTKSK were evaluated in a biocontainment facility at Morden, MB, Canada. Parents and DH lines were evaluated with SSR and DArT markers. AC Cadillac had stem rust resistance QTL on chromosomes 1BS, 2B (same region as Sr40), 3BS (same region as Sr2), 6DS (same region as SrCad) and 7A. Carberry had QTL on chromosomes 2D, 4B and 6B. Epistatic interactions occurred between chromosomes 2B and 6D for stem rust severity and infection type.Collection: CIMMYT Staff Publications Collection
