Summary: Reaction of 80 promissing lines and 20 co- mmercial cultivars to common bunt was evaluated during 2002-2003 in Karaj and Kermanshah. Expe- riments were carried out under artificial inoculation using randomized complete block design with three replications. Average percentage of infected heads were analysed and entries were grouped according to Duncan Multiple Range Test. In 2002 in Karaj, among the moderate climate lines M-80-2 (Pishtaz), M-80-3 (Shiraz) and 1-65- 55/5/Pewee"S" Azd were found to be resistant to common bunt. Among the cold climate entries, Bow"S" Crow"S" and Tx62A4793/CB809Nee "S"/3/Shi4414-/Crow"S" expressed moderate resistance to common bunt. Only Pgo/Seri//Bau was resistant amog the humid warm climate entries. Azd/Hd2 172//V-83035 expressed moderate resit- ance among the warm climate entries. Commercial cultivars Alvand, Zarrin and Saisun were also re- sistant. In 2003 in Karaj experiment, lines M-80-2 (Pishtaz), M-80-3 (Shiraz), 1 -65-55/5/Pewee"S" and Azd/4 Anza/3/Pi/Nar//Hys were found resistant amongthe moderate climate lines. None of the cold climate entries showed resistance except for line C-80- 7 which was moderately resistant. Among the humid warm climate entries only line Pgo/Seri//Bau was resistant, while line Azd/Hd2172/N-83035 was resistant among the warm climate lines. As in 2002, Alvand, Zarrin, Azadi and Saisun were also re- sistant. In Kermanshah, only M-80-2 was resistant among the moderate climate entries. Out of the cold climate entries, Batera//Bau.To 173 was found resistant, while N-80-20 was moderately resistant among the warm humid climate entries. None of the warm climate entries were resistant. Commercial vareity Alvand was also resistant in Kermanshah.

Abstract only

Reaction of 80 promissing lines and 20 co- mmercial cultivars to common bunt was evaluated during 2002-2003 in Karaj and Kermanshah.
