This edition second of the book Brazilian Economy has been expanded. Chapter 6 is new and analyzes the impact of the oil price revolution of the 1970s and the background to the crisis of the early 1980s. Chapter 8, also new, consists of an analysis of foreign investments in Brazil. Chapter 10 has been changed and expanded in order to incorporate more recent research on inflation and indexing. Another new feature is the appendix to chapter 9, which delves into the problems of evaluating the performance of public enterprises. Finally, where possible, the original chapters have been updated to take into account new data and new scholarship.
