These guidelines have been prepared to assist those concerned with watershed management in the countries of the Himalayan region, whether they are practioners, planners or policy makers. Watershed management in these countries cannot succed without the full co-operation of people and local communities and the guidelines seek to make watershed management projects more successful through the involvement of people in planning, assessment, monitoring and evaluation of operations as well as carriying out the necessary to improve watershed conditions.
