The results of the evaluation and documentation of durum wheat germplasm project involving a thorough analysis of most of ICARDA's durum collection for 25 economically important characters and the identification of lines with specific traits useful to breeders are reported. This publication presents a short list of 1987 elite lines which have been selected for various economically useful traits such as earliness and tolerance or resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses with the hope that these lines will be utilized by the breeders in their crop improvement programs. The collection is being maintained as "core" and seeds are available from Germplasm Curator at the Genetic Resources Unit of ICARDA. Information on the 11678 accessions is entered into a durum wheat database. A catalog of this data together with information from the collection site is being produced by the Cereal Improvement Program and the Genetic Resources Unit at ICARDA
