Pre- and post-emergence herbicides for irrigated wheat in Ethiopia

The results indicate that the pendimethalin plus bromoxynil plus MCPA combination was almost as effective in controlling the major grass (Sorghum arundinaceum and Echinochloa colona) and broadleaf weeds (Zelya pentandra, Portulaca oleraceae and Corchurus olitorius) as twice hand weeding. Hence, depending on the severity of weed infestation, a combination of these three chemicals at the active ingredient rates of 1.44 + 0.24 + 0.24 9 ha-l, respectively, was found to be the most effective in controlling both grass and broadleaf weeds and resulted in a significant increase in grain yieldCollection: CIMMYT Publications Collection
