A preliminary review of the global hunger problem, its causes and future implications has led to the conviction that stronger US actions are urgently needed. For the US to play its proper major role in a worldwide campaign against hunger, a major reordering of national priorities is needed. Redistribution of income-producing assets, and social investment must begin in the poor nations. The developing countries, the developed nations, and international institutions have not given sufficient priority to ending hunger and malnutrition by addressing its causes.
