Subject(s): Online resources: In: Scientia Agricultura Sinica v. 38, no. 7, p. 1295-1299633972Summary: Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) is highly related to undesirable brown discoloration of wheat-based end products such as noodles. It is important to identify molecular markers associated with PPO activities for marker-assisted selection (MAS) for wheat quality improvement. A total of 203 Chinese winter wheat cultivars and lines were analyzed to investigate the correlation of PPO activities with a SSR(simple sequence repeat)marker Xgwm312. The results indicated that a fragment with 198 bp is apparently correlated with high PPO activities in wheat grain. The marker Xgwm312 can be used for MAS for PPO activities.
