Weed grasses are the principal host. BYD epidemics occurred in 1980 and 1987. Common aphid species found in Iran are Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch), R. padi (L.), Schizaphis graminum (Rondani), Sitobion avenae (Fabricius), and Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker).
