For 1960 the minimum number of diseases was 12 for artichoke with a farm value of 3.4 million dollars. The maximum number of diseases was 192 for apples with a value of 195 million dollars. Recorded numbers of diseases have increased about 3 fold between 1926 and 1960. For a 5000 fold increase in the value of all crops, the number of diseases increased about 5 fold.
