This preliminary report deals with the morphology and size of particles present in mosaic diseased plants within the families Gramineae and Liliaceae. The study is being conducted fir the purpose of determining and evaluating virus characters, with reference to their use in a system of classification. Particular attention is being given to typecultures that are listed or are to be listed in the Catalogue and Registr of the Plant Viruses. The length of each of the three supposed virus species studied showed a distinct mode. One of the species was a straight rod and two species were always indistinguishable in size and morphology from closely related strains.
