The virus was recovered in 1954-55 from specimens collected in 15 widely scattered counties. An attempt was made to determine if the virus was present in other States of the United States. Oat, barley, wheat, and bromegrass specimens suspected of carrying the virus was shown to be present in the specimens from 8 States, as follows: Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.
