The membrane thermostability (MT) test on seedlings suggested by SAADALLA et al. (1990) was modified by growing the seedlings at room temperature and changing the hardening duration and heat test temperature and duration, to make it more rapid and convenient. Significant differences in MT were found among tested Romanian wheat genotypes. Genotype ranking for MT corresponded well with the ranking based on previous field observations on grain plumpness under heat
