Other title:
  • Detection of quantitative resistance of maize to sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) and maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV)
Subject(s): DDC classification:
  • 94-036451
In: Archives of phytoPathology and plant protection v. 28, no. 4, p. 291-30194-036451Summary: A total of 127 genotypes of Zea mays L. were investigated for their resistance against SCMV and MDMV, respectively. Resistance levels were assessed against symptom index and infestation index. In agreement with results of other authors, the resistance type underlying the virus-host systems SCMV/maize and MDMV/maize, respectively, is a quantitative resistance. Resistant genotypes show a reduced infection rate, a prolonged incubation time, weakened symptoms, a limited virus transport, and a decreased virus concentration
