Printed 198688-012626Summary: Most of plants (66.7) in the BC3 generation of Hordeum jubatum x 2x Secale cereale had 14 rye chromosomes (2n=14) in their somatic cells. Alloplasmic plants with rye genome in the cytoplasm of Hordeum jubatum showed an almost normal meiosis. On the average 6.97-7.00 bivalents mostly of the ring type (90.18) and 13.28 chiazmata per PMC were observed at the metaphase 1. Univalents were noted in three plants at the frequency of 0 - 2 per PMC. Stainability of pollen grains in alloplasmic plants was high (88.5 on average), but mature anthers were indehiscent during plant flowering. The anther wall tissue of BC3 plants was found to have
