Inorganic P was greater whenmaize was frozen at the twelve leaf stage than with the non-freezing procedure; the opposite was found for wheat at Feekes stage five. Freezing increased total P concentration for both maize at the twelve leaf stage and wheat at Feekes stage five. It was concluded that P volatilization losses must have occurred in the non-frozen samples for maize at the twelve leaf stage and wheat at Feekes stage five.
