Yecora Rojo [Red Yecora], an early-maturing spring wheat, was developed by CIMMYT, Mexico, and released in the USA in 1975. It is one of several cultivars selected from hybrid II23584, whose parentage is (Ciano X Sonora 64-Klein Rendidor) X /3/II-8156. Yecora Rojo resembles Yecora 70, except that the former has red and the latter amber grains. Yecora Rojo is 75-85 cm tall at maturity and has good test weight, protein content and milling and baking quality. It is resistant to races of Puccinia striiformis prevalent in California; its yield performance in, and adaptation to, various areas of the state are outlined.
