Nucleotide sequence and determination of the extremities of the 26S ribosomal RNA gene in wheat mitochondria: Evidence for sequence rearrangements in the ribosomal genes of higher plants
Material type: ArticleLanguage: En Publication details: 1988Subject(s): In: Current Genetics v. 13, no. 1, p. 75-82615163Summary: Comparison of the wheat mitochondrial 26S ribosomal RNA genes and flanking regions with those from maize and Oenothera revealed that all 3 exhibit a high degree of homology except within 2 variable regions. When the genes were compared with E. coli 23S rRNA and chloroplast 23S and 4.5S rRNA genes, a third variable region was apparent close to the 3' end of the gene. The 5' and 3' endsof the wheat mitochondrial gene were determined by S1 nuclease mapping, and computer analysis of the gene revealed several small sequences that were also present either in the 5' region of the 26S rRNA gene or in the 18S rRNA gene.Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Copy number | Status | Date due | Barcode | Item holds | |
