Georgian RI of Agriculture in cooperation with the Department of breeding and Genetics have studied resistance of breeding forms of wheat to diseases. Monitoring of 12 lines ofthe replicated yield trial ascertained the fol1owing fungous diseases: helmintosporiosis (Helminthosporium sativum), powdery mildew (Erisiphe graminis), brown rust (Puccinia tritici), yellow rust (Puccinia ghuma- rum) and root rots ( Ophiobolus Gran minis Sacc and Fusarium graminearum). In 2002, crT 17 x r 40' Manero and SOM \ID J3 \MLT showed complex resistance to the above indicated diseases. In case ofthese lines develop- ment of Helminthosporium sativum did not exceed 8.1, 7.3 and 6,8% respectively. Variety Kupava was most intensively damaged, with disease severity ra- tes being equal to 30.5% and 20.5% for helmint- hosporiosis and rust, respectively. Other lines were infected with more or less intensity. In 2003 Vardzia, Bezostaia-l and crr -17\r lines showed complex resistance to the above mentioned diseases with the disease severity rates for Helminthosporium sativum not exceeding 10.4%, 11.2% and 10,2% respectively. The highest severity ofthe disease was observed for 88 ZHONG 218 \\CTKNEE (3) KVZ, KS82W418\ Stephens\ \rnw 1271 ~up and BILINMYEN9639 .Severity of the development of Helminthosporium sativum in these lines was 24.2%,25.0% and 27.1 % respec- tively. Due to the weather conditions in 2003 the incidence of rusts was less intensive compared to the previous years. |
