En toda Latinoamérica, los grupos indígenas están demandando que el desarrollo se enfoque en prioridades locales, incluyendo la identidad étnica. Paralelamente, los investigadores de la sustentabilidad necesitan realizar investigaciones en el ámbito local, sobre la interacción entre la sociedad y el ambiente, con un enfoque que tenga relevancia a nivel global. Este libro reporta seis años de investigación multidisciplinaria sobre manejo de recursos naturales en Cotacachi, Ecuador, en donde científicos y grupos indígenas buscan alcanzar una base común. La obra narra como la gente de Cotacachi a lo largo del tiempo ha utilizado los recursos a su alcance formando el paisaje andino contemporáneo. Además, trata sobre las interacciones hombre-ambiente con relación a la biodiversidad, suelos y agua, y la búsqueda de un desarrollo equitativo. Este libro resultará interesante tanto a científicos sociales como biológicos que investigan el ambiente y la agricultura en comunidades rurales. |
