Summary, etc. The grain yield of sorghum was not affected when intercropped with clitoria [Clitoria ternatea], desmanthus [Desmanthus virgathus], and stylo [Stylosanthes guianensis]. The yields of the monocrop forage legumes were significantly higher than those of the intercrops. The highest grain yield of rice was obtained from plots previously planted to monocropped desmanthus and clitoria. The most promising cropping pattern was rice- sorghum-ratoon sorghum intercropped with desmanthus. Rice-maize + forage (desmanthus, clitoria, and sun hemp [Crotalaria juncea]) relayed with mungbean [Vigna radiata] showed that the forage legume did not significantly affect the yield of maize but reduced the yield of relayed mungbean. Forage yield was significantly affected by maize. Yield of succeeding rice was increased by the incorporated forage legumes. Mungbean and cowpea [Vigna unguiculata] intercropped with sunn hemp and siratro [Macroptilium atropurpureum] in Santa Barbara and sunn hemp, desmanthus, and siratro at IRRI showed that yield of mungbean and cowpea was not significantly reduced by desmanthus and siratro but sun hemp reduced grain yield of both crops. Rice yields increased when last cutting of forage legume was incorporated into the soil as green manure. The most promising system was rice-mungbean + desmanthus cropping pattern. Farmers in Santa Barbara are testing rice-mungbean + siratro. Intercropping of pigeonpea with forage legumes (sunn hemp, clitoria, and desmanthus) did not reduce the yield of pigeonpea. Forage yield was significantly reduced by intercropping. The yield of the succeeding rice crop was highest in plots previously planted to sunn hemp monocrop and intercrop. The most promising cropping pattern were rice- pigeonpea + desmanthus and rice-pigeonpea + siratro
