520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Wheat is the main food product for the most of the Earth population. Epiphytotics of yellow rust are inflicting huge losses to the state economies reducing grain production. The goal of this research was to study the racial composition of yellow rust and evaluate wheat<br/>samples for resistance to the most widespread races of the pathogen in order to facilitate further selection of resistant lines and use this material for breeding. Research material included the local varieties and from the nurseries (Fawon, Wonsa, Wonir, Evtsa, Evtir, Weerut, and a trap nursery CWA–RTN, CIMMYT-ICARDA). It was found out that the prevailing races of yellow rust in the central zone of Tajikistan are YrÀ, Yr1, Yr2, Yr6, Yr7, Yr18. Less widespread are races Yr5 and Yr9. The results show that varieties Tasikar, Ormon I.E. and Iqbol are resistant to yellow rust and common band. Jagger was resistant to yellow rust, but susceptible to common band. Varieties Aleks and Ziroat-70 were resistant to yellow rust and moderately tolerant to common band. The most susceptible to yellow rust were varieties Atai/Galves, Chlaki, Irena/Kauz, Attila, having spread rate of 50-80%. Other varieties showed moderate resistance. The genotypes Haynes–Kolben, Moro, Kleven, Tritikum Spelta Album, Rachersberg-42, Oxley and Kransburg were identified as having a stable reaction type to be used for transfering resistance genes into promising local wheat varieties. The data obtained from the ecological nursery show the possibility of involving varieties Tasikar, Ormon I.E., and Ikbol into breeding on transferring yellow rust and common band resistance genes into local material. The Jagger variety can be used as a donor of resistance to yellow rust.
