Summary, etc. The effects of some climatic and genetic factors are evaluated concerning the chemical composition of kernels produced by ten durum wheat cultivars, grown within diferent temperature and raining ranges. The occurrence of large rainfall in the course of the ripening cycle has led to higher grain yield, mealiness and P-acid soluble fraction in semolina but has reduced both protein and gluten content as well as the lipidic and nucleic P-fractions. The early maturing cultivars yielded semolina with larger amount of P-acid soluble and P-nucleic fractions; the semolina obtained from high tillering cultivars contained lower quantity of gluten and more P-acid soluble fraction. In considering the role of metabolically active P-compounds, it appears that to earliness is correlated both the more intense phosphatic nutrition, as revealed by the higher P-acid soluble content, and the more active protein biochimism, as can be deduced from the larger amount of P-nucleic fraction in the kernels
