Summary, etc. La roya de la hoja (causada por Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici) es una enfermedad que causa daños importantes al trigo (Triticum aestivum). Su control es más factible mediante la resistencia genética. Triticum tauschii (genoma DD) y Triticum turgidum (genoma AABB), parientes silvestre y cultivado del trigo, respectivamente, han sido usados como fuente de resistencia a ciertas enfermedades. Con el objeto de estudiar las bases genéticas de la resistencia a roya de la hoja en un trigo sintético hexaploide (SH) derivado de la cruza de T. turgidum variedad Altar 84 y T. tauschii accesión-221, el SH fue cruzado con cuatro variedades de trigo, Morocco, Chines Spring, Opata 85 y Sonora 64, y los estudios de la herencia se realizaron en las generaciones F2, F3 y F2CR1, dependiendo de la cruza. Los resultados indican que la resistencia a la roya de la hoja en el SH se originó del progenitor duro Altar 84. El SH fue heterogéneo en la resitencia y se pudo detectar la presencia de hasta tres genes de resistencia. Uno de estos tres genes es Lr10, el segundo gen confirío resistencia dominante (permitiendo un tipo de infección menor con todas las razas usadas en las pruebas de plántula). El tercer gene fue de naturaleza recesiva, determinando una reacción intermedia de plántula y se heredó con un supresor. Ninguno de los genes confirió suficiente protección contra la raza MCJ/SP en condiciones de campo.
