O autor estudou quatro tipos de ferrugens. Dois foram colhidos parasitando o milho, um outro o capim Guatemala (Tripsacum laxum) e um quarto o sorgo (Sorghum vulgare). São apresentados seus caracteres macro e microscópicos que permitem afirmar tratar-se de P. sorghi e P. polysora sobre milho, de P. polysora sobre T. laxum e de P. purpurea sobre S. vulgare. Observou o comportamento biológico diferencial, como presença ou ausência de estágios do ciclo completo e tempo de inoculação após inoculação artificial. O autor observou os inimigos naturais, julgando Darluca filum ser fator limitante no desenvolvimento das ferrugens do milho, nesta região Centro-Sul do Brasil. Outro inimigo observado foi uma minúscula larva vermelha devorando urediosporos (Ordem Diptera, família Cecidomydae ou Mycetophyllidae). |

The author studied four different types of rusts. Two of them were collected in corn, in parasitical condition, another in Guatemala grass (Tripsacum laxum) and the fourth one in sorghum (Sorghum vulgare). The macro and microscopical characteristics identified them as P. sorghi and P. polysora on corn, P. polysora on T, laxum and P. purpurea on S. vulgare. Differential biological behavior was observed, as well the presence or absence of stages in the complete cycles and incubation time after artificial inoculation. The author observed also the ocurrence of a natural enemy, Darluca filum, which was regarded as the limitating factor in the spreading of the corn leaf rusts in the south-center region of Brazil. |
